Transitions
Trisha Engelke has accepted a
fulltime position at Marketing Concepts. Therefore, she has resigned
her position as Director of the River of Hope Youth Center. We are
grateful to Trisha for the gifts and talents she brought to the position.
The article below describes some of the wonderful ways Trisha was able to
utilize her abilities at the Center.
We ask God's blessings to be
upon Trisha and her family as she makes this transition in her life.
The youth will be honoring Trisha on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 6:15
pm. Fortunately, Trisha and her family will continue to be members of
Hope Presbyterian Church.
Please keep our young people
in your prayers as the Personnel Committee and Session work to address the
staffing needs of our congregation. If you have a passion for our
youth, please consider sharing your life with them on Wednesday evenings.
We are hoping to develop a youth leadership team. These individuals
will gather with the youth on Wednesday evenings. The Sr. High will
begin meeting each Wednesday night at 6:15 pm beginning September 15th.
Summer at the River Of Hope Youth Center
Summer is the time of year we all look
forward to: school's out, families gather, travel, camping, boating, the
list goes on. Before we know it, Fall is here, and we find ourselves
reflecting on all we experienced and enjoyed.
I wanted to share with everyone what an
amazing summer we had at the River of Hope Youth Center. Two programs
where offered for teens to be involved in: "Fun Night" and "Break Out".
Each Wednesday night was "Fun Night" from 5:00 - 8:00 pm when we made dinner
together and enjoyed all the activities the building offers. We shared
many laughs and made some awesome memories as we gathered each week. I
am convinced that pasta and cookies are staple foods in a teen's diet!
I also offered a "Break Out" group every
other Friday afternoon. Teens would meet at the Youth Center or at our
activity destination for an afternoon of fun and food. Dinner and a
movie, a picnic at the beach, making waves at the Aquatic Center, bowling
and burgers, a friendly game of mini golf, just to name a few of the
activities we enjoyed on our Friday's out.
We rocked the evening away on family night
at Sonshine Festival. Great music, awesome friends and beautiful
weather this evening was definitely a highlight of the summer for many of
the teens who had never experienced Sonshine. We saddled-up at the
Kandiyohi County Fair, spending the evening which was miserably HOT,
enjoying the rides, food and some amazing bull-riding. As we drove
back to the Youth Center that night and recapped our evening, we all agreed
it was well worth every sticky moment.
This summer was truly filled with amazing
relationships and unforgettable moments that will be cherished.
Fall Blessings,
Trisha
